Painting Alphabet Letters | Preschool Kids Project
In this blog I want to share a fun easy way young kids can be introduced to painting and learning their alphabet letters.
This great idea came to me when I was planning painting activities for all my toddlers and preschooler for my annual summer art camp.
I’m so excited how simple this project is and inexpensive to put together, genius!
I explored the dollar store and discovered foam alphabet letters and numbers 1 – 10 for under $2.00.
These are those number and alphabet sets kids push out with their fingers and have to place back in the right spot, kinda like a puzzle.
Typically these are soft foam.
They do work the best because they are water proof.
Theses foam alphabet letters worked similar to using a rubber stamp.
The older kids had just as much fun making cool words from the letters.
Alphabet Painting Materials:
Washable Finger Paint – Ready Friendly Finger Watercolor Primary Colors.
Wide Toddler Paint Brushes
Fingers work too!
Palette – A deep well palette works best, 6 well Palette
Paper – White Small Cut Watercolor Paper
Baby Wipes
Set-up:
I put out a couple colors of the washable paint into the palette.
I set out a few small paintbrushes.
Remember fingers work too!
I set out small basket filled with small pieces of paper to stamp on.
I put all alphabet letters and numbers in a wood bowl easy for kids to sort through and reach.
I set out baby wipes for wiping fingers and stamps.
I prepared a place for artworks to dry on my string line with clothes pins to hold them up papers.
Basic Steps:
The younger kids loved practicing their abc’s and stamping for the first time.
We had so much fun using paint brushes and our fingers.
It’s super easy, spread paint on the front of the letter you want an impression of, then press on paper and lift off.
You should see an imprint from the letter you painted.
Just like a stamp you need to get paint on the surface to get your imprint.
I recommend doing this several times in front of child, this gives them a good understanding to how the imprint is being make. You might have to repeat till the concept is understood.
Make their name or the letters they are familiar with.
When fingers or the stamps need cleaning use wipes.
Wipe off stamp each time you want to change colors.
Kids love doing this!
Kids love Alphabet Painting!
Warmly, Spramani
