Use Glass Droppers For Mixing
Today I want to share how fun it is to teach children how to mix primary colours with glass droppers. Using glass droppers is very exciting for children. This turns painting into a fun science colour lab study. I use droppers when I want my students to observe colour changes and mixtures closely.
Glass droppers for color theory
All children have to do is squeeze one primary color out, then squeeze another primary out. Then they can use a paintbrush to mix up their drops into a secondary colour. Glass droppers can be used to teach important colour theory lessons, which I find is a nice break from using only a paintbrush.
This mixing method works well when young children feel colour theory ideas are too difficult to understand. Once I show them how to mix colours into other colours, they become more relaxed and excited. Most of my students get carried away and can spend a good amount of time using these fun paint droppers.
Primary colour mixing has a mad science feel about it. These glass droppers are safe to use. I have never had any accidents with them. They are very easy and comfortable for kids to use. Droppers work best on thick watercolour paper. I would recommend that children under 3 should not use them, or children who find it challenging to follow directions for their saftey.
